In Alentejo, MONTE is the traditional name for the buildings that compose a farm. At Monte Outeiro, this represents housing, tourism, leisure and agricultural activities.

At Monte Outeiro we raise cattle, both cows and sheep. All animals, including our horses, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats and even the geese live free in a natural environment.

However, life in the farm is not all about the animals. From our olive trees we make a most enjoyable olive oil. Ewe milkchese, honey and traditional cakes are some of the other natural products that we manufacture.

Near to the Spanish border and the Alqueva Lake, the largest artificial lake in Europe, our farm is located in Alandroal County, Santiago Maior, a region known as the "e;deep Alentejo"e;, included in the national ecological reserve.

"e;Monte Outeiro"e; was built on a hill in the centre of the farm, providing our guests an unbroken view of the surrounding region. The Castles of Terena and Monsar�z can be appreciated from our porch, as well as the marvellous landscape of holm-hoak trees, vineyards, and olive trees.

The MONTE as described above, is the "e;soul"e; of every activity. Is the place where all the sounds and all the scents get together in order to offer you the enjoyment of the moment.
